Evaluation Q5

Evaluation Question 5:
How successful was your product?

The feedback provided from my focus group suggests that my product was successful in appealing to my target audience.
Praise regarding the thematic red, white and black colour scheme throughout my product was received suggesting that this created a cohesive link throughout all of my pages.
The photography and more specifically, the posture of my subjects effectively adhered to the generic expectations of all three members of my focus group, most coming to the consensus that 'it looks like it belongs in a Hip Hop magazine'. The style of monochromatic colour correction strongly establishes a link between the featured artist, 'AB-DUL' and older artists, provoking a positive response from members of the focus group.
The juxtaposition between heavily graffiti influenced style fonts and more bold and rectangular modern fonts further emphasised this connection, conveying a link to the 'oldschool' to the audience and generated an artist representation similar to artists the target audience are familiar with.
Overall, the conventions followed and broken by my piece worked in synergy to generate an effective product which would likely appeal to the vast majority of my target audience.

Question 4
How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?

Over the course of my project various forms of digital software were used in the formatting of my pages and digital manipulation of the used images.
Examples of this include the use of Photoshop to manipulate images in the form of background removal and laying out of text, as well as lightroom in colour correcting my photographs.

The video below demonstrates the process of creating my cover page.
